Find the truth back: Sharp and Simple

Zero blade play. Zero tuning required. Flawless action that lasts. Zero gap, maintenance-free.

Once factory calibration, always smooth as new for life.

Performance Above All

Why we cut what others can't? With Austrian Böhler M390 (or 14C28N), Heron uses advanced powder metallurgy for superior edge retention and corrosion resistance. Through vacuum heat treatment, deep cryogenic processing, and triple tempering, it reaches 60–62 HRC. A 16° razor edge and precision V-grind deliver effortless, buttery cuts.

What is M390

A powder-metallurgy martensitic chromium steel originally designed as an industrial tool steel. Atomized molten steel is pressed and sintered into ultra-fine, uniform carbides, outperforming traditional stainless steel.

Key advantages: exceptional edge retention, corrosion resistance, and good toughness.

How do we forge it

We know great steel alone isn’t enough. Without proper heat treatment, it’s just metal. We went even further with a time-intensive six-stage water grinding process, creating a perfect V-shaped thin grind.

So you can get this 60–62 HRC hardness knife, extremely tough, and built to stay sharp.

Safety Above All

With a sharp tool, the real danger isn’t the edge—it’s instability. Safety is non-negotiable for us. That’s why Heron uses a precision-built Nested Liner Lock, a structure that demands extremely tight CNC tolerances.

Convenience Above All

Heron applies first principles: a folder just needs to open, lock, cut. Faster open means faster cut. Extensive testing refined the blade-to-handle ratio for deployment in darkness, one-handed, or even underwater.

How to pick - M390

Pick M390 if you're a knife enthusiast:

  • Outperforms all other steels by an era
  • So hard it rarely needs sharpening
  • Flawlessly in high-humidity and salty environments
  • Requires almost no maintenance

How to pick - 14C28N

Pick 14C28N if you're a pragmatic user:

  • Handles rough use and keep safety
  • Easy to sharpen and maintain
  • Extreme toughness, without chipping or breaking

Bone-deep Protection

Mohs 8–9 hardness. An ultra-hard silky film that is completely smudge-proof and anti-bacterial, massively upgrading wear and corrosion resistance. Resembles a sandblast finish, but the feel is completely different — Nano's protection is in a whole other league.

Diamond-Like Carbon

One of the most premium, expensive coatings in the knife industry. Massively boosts scratch and corrosion resistance. Fear no environment. A unique chemical reaction with the steel creates a glossy agate-like luster on the blade surface.

FAQs

Why M390 so popular?

M390 isn’t just “good steel”—it’s what many cutting tool users consider endgame. It’s a premium powder metallurgy steel from Böhler, known for its exceptional balance of hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and edge retention.
Heron uses original Austrian M390 combined with optimized heat treatment to maximize long-term cutting performance.
With Heron, you’re not buying hype. You’re getting a blade that stays sharp longer, cuts cleaner, and saves you time on maintenance.
If you want a cutting tool that performs day after day without constant upkeep, this is it.

Is 14C28N a “lower-end” steel?

14C28N isn’t a downgrade—it’s a different philosophy.
It’s a high-quality stainless steel known for its toughness, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening.
It is ideal for users who want to pick a knife that with better toughness, easier to sharpen, and consistent everyday performance.

What's the difference between Nano and Sandblast?

Sandblast is a physical process that blasts fine media onto the metal surface to create a uniform matte texture — it's the metal itself, no coating added. Nano Ceramic Coating is a thin ceramic layer applied to the surface, adding hardness (Mohs 8–9) and vivid colors that sandblast can't achieve. Sandblast is more impact-resistant (won't peel or chip), while Nano Ceramic offers better scratch resistance and a glossy, colorful finish. Choose sandblast for a classic, durable matte look; choose Nano Ceramic for bold colors and a premium feel.

How DLC different from regular black finishes?

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is a high-hardness coating that improves wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Unlike standard coatings, it enhances both durability and surface performance.
