Operating Instructions

1. Zeroing

Place the ring ruler on a flat surface and roll it slowly until the magnetic indexing mechanism produces a clear tactile feedback with a "click" sound. Then align the red reference line in the center of the transparent HUD reading window with the zero mark. All measurements and conversions should start from the zero position.

2. Measuring Straight or Curved Length

Keep the soft rubber O-ring in contact with the path to be measured, and roll the ruler steadily along the path to avoid slipping or tilting. Each complete revolution is indicated once by the magnetic mechanism:

Total length = number of complete rotations × range per rotation + current reading at the red line.

The metric version has a range of 10 cm per rotation. For example, if the magnetic mechanism clicks twice and the current reading is 3 cm, the total length is 23 cm. When measuring irregular curves, keep the ring ruler moving continuously along the target line without lifting it.

3. Metric / Imperial Conversion (Side A)

After zeroing, align the red reference line with a metric value on the outer scale of Side A. The imperial scale value simultaneously indicated by the red line is the corresponding result. The reverse operation can also be used for imperial-to-metric conversion.

When the value exceeds the scale range, you can adjust the decimal point proportionally. For example, write 42 cm as 4.2 cm, read its imperial equivalent on the ring ruler, and then multiply the result by 10. This conversion is suitable for everyday estimation; for metrology-grade accuracy, please use a calibrated professional measuring instrument.

4. Square Area Calculation (Side B)

After zeroing, align the red reference line with the side length of a square on the outer scale of Side B. The number indicated by the red line on the inner scale is the corresponding squared value. For example, when the side length is 5 cm, the inner scale reading is 25, meaning the area is 25 cm².

This function calculates the area of a square using "side length × side length." It does not directly apply to rectangles, circles, or irregular shapes.

5. Dual-Side Reading and Rolling Direction

Sides A and B feature opposite rolling directions to accommodate both left- and right-handed users and different push/pull habits. After completing a measurement, you can check Side A for metric/imperial equivalents, or flip the ring over to Side B for square values. When flipping, keep the relative position of the ring core and the reading window unchanged.

6. Everyday Carry

You can carry it with the included lanyard, or attach it to backpacks, zippers, and keychains. If you purchase the vegetable-tanned leather case, make sure the ring ruler is fully seated inside before carrying it.

Maintenance & Care

GR5 Titanium Body and Markings

For daily care, wipe with a soft dry cloth. If exposed to sweat, rain, or salt, clean with a slightly damp soft cloth and dry immediately. Do not use steel wool, abrasives, or hard scrapers to avoid damaging the fine bead-blasted surface and laser-engraved markings.

PMMA Transparent HUD Reading Window

Use a soft lens cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Avoid alcohol, concentrated solvents, strong acid/alkaline cleaners, and hard objects to prevent hazing, micro-cracks, or permanent scratches. A small clearance gap is provided between the reading window and the internal scale; do not squeeze or forcibly disassemble it.

Rubber O-Ring and Anti-Slip Teeth

Oil contamination on the O-ring can affect rolling accuracy. Clean it with clean water and a small amount of neutral detergent, and allow it to dry thoroughly before use. Periodically check that the O-ring is not twisted, cracked, hardened, or dislodged from the reverse-side anti-slip teeth. Replace it promptly if any abnormality is found.

Magnetic Indexing Mechanism

Avoid tiny iron filings adhering to the indexing area. If feedback becomes weak or rolling is obstructed, first remove any foreign matter. Do not disassemble, impact, or expose the magnetic structure to high temperatures.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather Case (Optional)

It is normal for leather to darken and develop a patina over time. Avoid soaking in water, prolonged direct sunlight, and contact with chemical solvents. If it gets damp, place it in a cool, well-ventilated area and allow it to air dry naturally.

Safety Warnings

  • Keep the rolling path stable during measurement to avoid the ring ruler falling off the edge of a table or springing out and causing injury.
  • This product is not a certified measuring instrument. Do not use it for medical purposes, construction acceptance, or other scenarios where measurement error is subject to mandatory requirements.
  • The built-in magnetic structure should be kept away from medical devices such as pacemakers, as well as magnetic-sensitive items such as mechanical watches and magnetic stripe cards.
  • Do not use this product as a load-bearing ring, climbing equipment, or striking tool.
  • Keep this product and detachable small parts out of reach of children.

Lifetime Warranty

The GR5 titanium body structure of this product is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions.

The following conditions are not covered by the free warranty:

  1. Normal wear and aging of consumable parts such as the rubber O-ring and lanyard.

  2. Damage to the PMMA reading window caused by scratches, solvents, compression, drops, or high temperatures.

  3. Deformation, scale damage, and indexing mechanism failure caused by drops, impacts, forced disassembly, or improper use.

  4. Normal wear, patina development, and color changes on the bead-blasted surface, laser markings, and optional leather case during use.

  5. Result deviations arising from using everyday estimation readings in scenarios requiring professional measurement.
